    1. In that time people in Cuba were illiterate and they were working really hard making cigarettes that's why they hired some people who came every day for four hours to read each hour something different example:the first hour was for newspapers and the second hour was for serialized novel the third hour they used to read politics and finally the last hour was devoted to something like Shakespeare. In that way they were working and at same time they were getting educated. 987923

The readers were superstars because they were great readers, they were reading to the workers at the factory when they were working. The readers were reading to them good stories, great literatures, and specially the news reports. However, this was distracting the workers while they were working that's why they were so popular.

  3. According to the story readers were very popular because they had that particular ability to read and write.Readers who could read with more intonation would get paid more. The "superstar" is a person, who has something specific, unique. In the story workers didn't know how to read and write, for them a reader was a guide to the world of news and literature. Therefore readers were wanted.
